Motorcycle Insurance

There are over a quarter million registered motorcycles in the North Carolina.

Whether you ride a scooter or a Gold Wing, we’ve got you covered for damages and liability. North Carolina motorcycle insurance is available as a packaged policy that allows you to pick and choose the coverage that best meets your budget and needs.

Motorcycles that can be insured:

Moped: A lightweight vehicle that can be pedaled or powered by a small engine.

Scooter: A two-wheel vehicle usually with much smaller wheels and a low-power engine that only powers the rear wheel.

Dirt bike: A lightweight motorcycle with rugged tires and enhanced suspension that’s designed mostly for off-road riding.

Vintage and antique: Also called vintage, classic or collector motorcycles and are classified as bikes 25 years or older.

Customized: If you get comprehensive and collision, customizations to your bike may be insured up to $3,000 at no extra cost. If you need more coverage than that, you can purchase up to $30,000 for customization coverage.

Sport and high performance: Also called street motorcycles. These motorcycles are built for speed and rapid acceleration/deceleration.

Cruiser: Cruisers are the most common type of motorcycle and usually include a V-twin, full view engine, swept-back and/or high handlebars with forward-set foot pegs and a stepped seat for two. Common makes/models include Harley Davidson, Honda Shadow, Kawasaki Vulcan, Suzuki Boulevard, etc.

Touring and sport touring: We insure a variety of touring motorcycles, including types with large fairings, luggage compartments and sport touring motorcycles that are more aerodynamic. Common models we insure include Honda ST1300, Triumph Tiger, BMW K1600, etc.

Trike: A three-wheel motorcycle with handle bars and open (instead of enclosed) riding. Trikes usually have two wheels in the rear and one in the front. We’ll also insure converted trikes and reverse trikes (two wheels in the front and one in the rear).

Autocycle: Enclosed, three-wheeled motorcycle with steering wheels and seating that doesn’t require you to straddle the vehicle (usually bucket or bench seating).

Enduro (on-road/off-road motorcycle): An on-road/off-road type motorcycle, equipped with lights and mirrors that is designed to be ridden on both unpaved surfaces and highways. Common models we insure include Honda XR Series, Kawasaki KLX Series, Yamaha WR Series.

ATV/UTV: An ATV/UTV usually has 4 wheels (but can have anywhere from 3-8) and is designed for off-road riding. These vehicles may be covered by your homeowners insurance policy, but you’ll likely need a special ATV Insurance policy if you ride it off your property.
